Top Things to do in Golden this Winter
Posted by Danielle Maxey on Jan 10th 2020
Planning a trip to Colorado this winter? Be sure to add Golden, Colorado to your road trip through the state and get a feel for the old Western, mountain towns. With the holidays coming up, there is a lot to do in Golden, besides stopping by your local Vital Outdoors of course ;)
1. Take a tour at the Coors Brewery.
Visit
the largest single-site brewery in the world and see how it all began.
This tour takes you through the history of Coors as well as their
brewing processes. The best part though? You receive a few treats at the
end for all your hard work and get to sample the famous beer after the
tour. On a short timeline? Just head straight to the bar!

2. Tour the Holiday Lights.
Go for a stroll down Washington Avenue
and stop by the different stores to get a feel for the town. Then head
down by the creek to view all the holiday lights in the evening. Be sure
to bring your layers as it gets especially chilly at night! Forgot your
insulation? We have you covered, from light fleeces to thick down
parkas and everything in between.
3. Eat Good Food and Drink Good Beer
With
numerous breweries and restaurants located in the heart of Golden, you
can’t really go wrong with whatever you chose. Stop by Woody’s Pizza or
swing by New Terrain Brewing Company to get a taste of a couple of the
local favorites. Still unsure where to head? We love to give
recommendations of our favorite places so come say hi.
4. Watch the Parades
Every Saturday leading up to Christmas, head
downtown to the Washington Avenue during the evening to view different
parades. There are candlelight walks, floats, live music, and fireworks.
You’ll be sure to enjoy the festivities as you get the small town feel
of Golden. And you’ll probably get to see at least a few dogs marching
alongside the parade.
5. Go for a hike
You can’t visit
Colorado without going for a hike, and there happen to be numerous
trails right in our town. Head up Lookout Mountain for a more
mountainous feel or go up Table Mountain for great views of the Rocky
Mountains and the city of Denver alike. Our trails tend to be icy in the
winter, so make sure to stop into Vital Outdoors first to get your
Kahtoola microspikes to keep traction on the trails.
